Honey Wines Australia has had many calls for a sweet plain mead so we did.
This one has no additional fruits or spices like our other meads, just honey, water, yeast and a lot of patience.
Made from raw honey from hives located in the Hunter Valley region of NSW.
This mead is 12% alcohol and is sold in a 750ml bottle.
Particles in raw honey can settle over time, invert the bottle before serving.
We use a tiny amount of potassium metabisulfite to sterilise wild yeast in honey before fermentation starts (as we like raw unheated honey), probably not enough to even worth mentioning but we put it on the label just in case.
Although we think it tastes best at room temperature if you can’t finish within a few days then store it in the fridge after opening.
Did you know a worker bee only makes about half a teaspoon of honey in it’s life? That is a lot of bees just for this bottle.
